The Steps to Expect When Restoring Your Tooth With a Dental Bridge

Posted .

Dental bridge treatment is a great way to replace a missing tooth and restore your oral health. If you are about to help your smile with a dental bridge, you’re on your way toward the top-notch oral health you deserve! To help you prepare for treatment, our dentist, Dr. John Toenjes, is happy to tell you all about the steps to expect. Those steps are:

Step No. 1: Your dentist will numb your mouth with a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. Then, they will trim the enamel of the two teeth that are anchoring your bridge in place. This will allow room for the dental crowns that are encompassed in the restoration.

Step No. 2: When the teeth are the perfect size and shape, your dentist will take impressions of the mouth and will send those impressions to a dental lab. There, lab technicians will make your dental bridge using that information. While you wait for your bridge to be made, your dentist will cover the anchoring teeth with temporary dental crowns.

Step No. 3: Once your bridge is crafted and sent to our clinic, your dentist will secure it over the anchoring teeth with a special dental cement. This will fill the gap in your smile and restore your oral health.
